Author of “Call Me ill”, “Left”, and “SPLIT” is a Black & QTDisabled, non-binary teaching artist, poet, and playwright from Madison, WI. He is the founder of Loud ‘N UnChained Theater Co. Their work addresses visioning for Black Liberation, a critique of the medical system, radical care + access, madness, QT Liberation, disability justice, abolition and cross-movement solidarity.
Presentation Title: Loud ‘N Unchained: Mad-c/Krip Poetry and Care
Presentation Description: Poetic Lecture and Writing Workshop led By T. S. Banks. Mad-c/Krip is a term to recognize disabled bodyminds. A reclamation of the words for madness and cripple. T will talk about how he has a created Loud ‘N Unchained for Black Queer, Trans, and Disabled creators to create from their lived experiences to combat the harm from medical and psyche institutions while forming their own mad-c/Krip care community. He’ll read from some of his newest chapbook “SPLIT” and lead a few writing prompts. Participants are encouraged to share their writing as well.
