Dr. Damita Brown
Dr. Damita Brown is an artist, writer, activist, and community-based educator. Her education and research focus on understanding and transforming power. She holds a doctorate in History of Consciousness from the University of California, Santa Cruz. Brown is also a dedicated meditator and meditation instructor. She serves as the co-executive director of Flywheel Skill Share, which promotes the use skill sharing to create sustainable alternatives to structural oppression. Dr. Brown leads the Abolitionist Restorative Justice workshop which has been presented to hundreds of people. She created the Community Lab for Intentional Practice (CLIP) and the Transformative Action Network (TAN) which offer resources, practical skills and community building opportunities for those committed to the development of effective strategies for dismantling racism and other forms of oppression.
