Alejandra Pérez is an organizer, educator, and current PhD student at the University of Washington, Seattle. Born in Guatemala and raised in Seattle, WA, Alejandra’s commitment to educational justice stems from her advocacy for undocumented students and their families. With a decade of organizing experience, she has co-founded grassroots initiatives like the COVID-19 Relief Fund for Undocumented Individuals in Washington State, co-organized an Undocumented Youth Organizing Summit, and led professional development for educators to advance anti-racist practices. Alejandra’s research explores how undocumented organizers build coalitions, practice mutual aid and collective care, and transform schools and communities through liberatory praxis. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Education from the University of Washington Bothell.
