Ché Stedman
Position title: Madison Fire Department

Ché Stedman has been a member of the Madison Fire Department since 1996. He has served as a Firefighter, Paramedic, Lieutenant, Training Captain, and Division Chief. He is currently the Assistant Chief of Medical Affairs and oversees the City’s crisis response team, or CARES Team. Stedman began his fire service career in the Wisconsin Air National Guard in 1992. He served 21 years, retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant. He is a combat veteran with two tours of duty. Ché holds a master’s degree in Rehabilitation Psychology from the UW-Madison.
Presentation Title: Madison CARES- Crisis Response Team
Presentation Description: Madison’s Community Alternative Response Emergency Services (CARES) Team is a 9-1-1 resource that responds to non-violent behavioral health emergencies. The Team consists of a crisis worker from Journey Mental Health and a paramedic from the Madison Fire Dept. The CARES Team has been in-service for over a year and will present on the successes and challenges faced in mobile crisis response as well as presenting data and program evaluation metrics.
