Sakara Wages was born and raised in Chicago. She holds a BS in Psychology from UW-Platteville, a Master of Social Work degree from UW-Madison, and is in the fourth year of the doctoral program. Wages is a lecturer, a teaching assistant, and the programs and operations assistant at the Progress Center for Black Women (Madison, WI). She also owns Subversive Social Work, where she works as a Mentor and Antiracist Educational Consultant. Wages also works alongside key Black community stakeholders in Platteville to co-create BlkPlattCom. In her free time, she chases Black joy, Black autonomy, and Black liberation.
