Dr. Curtis Davis holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Mississippi, a Master of Social Work from the University of Alabama, and a PhD in Social Work from Tulane University. Dr. Davis is an active pracademic whose work bridges scholarship and practice. His teaching and scholarly interests focus on addressing stressors tied to structural oppression through applied methodologies, attention to salient identities, policy, and community engagement. His research and practice experiences include examining racism based trauma and exploring socioeconomic and racial disparities related to harmful birth outcomes. Dr. Davis is the inaugural recipient of the Faculty Award for Early Career Achievement in Social Work Doctoral Education from the Group for the Advancement of Doctoral Education in Social Work. This award reflects his commitment to fostering healthy and nurturing learning spaces for social work students and education stakeholders.
